Downloadable tracks for Bass players
Welcome to the RhythmMatters online shop!
From here, you can link straight through to our Payloadz account, where you can purchase a variety of products, with more becoming available over the coming months.
Ever felt uninspired parcticing the same old grooves? Stuck in a rut with your playing? Just looking to expand your rhythmic abilities?
We’re selling our first series of fantastic playalong tracks, which are all in time signatures other than 4/4. These tracks were featured in Bass Guitar Magazine, the UK’s leading Bass pulication and have been written and recorded for the specific purpose of helping you to improve your sense of time, space and rhythm in music. Although they are in odd time, the tracks have been written for groove playing, so each tune has a great feel and a pocket you can really lock in with.
Our commitment is to creating great music for you to play along to, not simply a fancy click track for you to develop techiques over.
As an introductory offer, we’re making one track (full track and minus bass) from each of the time signature we’ve covered in the series available FOR FREE.
There is no catch, there’s no difference in quality or time limit on usage. Download the tracks, have a listen, jam along, and if you like them, you can come back and get the rest!
To get you started, simply download the tracks from this Soundcloud player:
RhythmMatters ‘Improve your time for bass players’ Series Preview by Dave Marks
If you’d like to see the bass lines that Dave played in these tracks, click here to download the PDF that shows his grooves and explains a little about how he played them.
If you wish to purchase sets, each download features 3 tracks, and each track has a distinct groove, style or rhythmic idea that it works on.
For each track, there are six different mixes, allowing you to use the tracks in a variety of settings.
These include:
Full Track: Listen to Dave and Darren playing to get inspiration and ideas for your own parts.
Track (minus bass): With the bass removed, you can groove along, either playing the original bass part, or bringing your own flavour.
Only drums: If you’d like to jam with a great drummer, but you’d like more freedom, all of the other instruments have been removed. You can play in different keys, create your own chord progressions, even get a guitarist, keys player or horn player round to jam.
Track (minus drums and bass): If you have a drummer that you love to play with, stick this on in your rehearsal space. Through the PA, you’ll hear all of the other instruments as they appear in the mix, with a click going right down the middle to keep you in time.
Mono click: Drop this file into onto a spare channel when you record to keep you in time with the following track.
Track (minus drums, bass and click): Perhaps you and your drummer would like to record some parts, or use the backing tracks in a live setting. For recording, simply drop the backing onto a stereo channel, the click onto a mono channel, press record and you’re ready to go. For live performance, you could pan the click Left and the track Right, then send the track out to your PA and the click straight to your drummer’s headphones.
